Aims

The main focus of the Early Career Researchers (ECR) Work Group is to connect early-career researchers working on the intersections of history and translation. It aims to foster a collaborative and supportive environment by organizing virtual meetings and events.

Its core aims include:

  • Providing a platform for ECRs to share ongoing research, receive constructive feedback, and refine their scholarly work
  • Providing peer support and exchange experiences and opportunities
  • Encouraging interdisciplinary approaches and international collaboration
  • Creating a sense of community among ECRs across institutions and countries
  • Exchanging relevant ideas, methodologies, and resources

ECRs on the Network Steering Group

During the Network meeting which was held at the end of the HTN 2026 online conference, it was agreed that three ECRs should be added to the Network Steering Group (as also discussed during the Network meeting in Graz in 2024).

The ECR members of the steering group will represent the interests and concerns of early career researchers within the wider network. The ECR members will rotate.

It was agreed that the best way to choose these representatives was for a Work Group dedicated to ECRs to be launched, and that this Work Group would then select them.

Inaugural meeting: 24 June 2026

We are pleased to invite you to the first online meeting of the Work Group, which will take place on 24 June from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. CET.

Join our meeting: https://uni-graz.zoom.us/launch/jc/69967600448

For our inaugural meeting, we would like to begin with a round of introductions. The purpose of this session is to get to know one another and to foster academic exchange through brief voluntary presentations of our respective research projects.

Presentations should be no longer than five minutes and can be accompanied by a single slide or poster. If you wish to present yourself, please email us by 21 June 2026: wg-ecrs@historyandtranslation.net

Please note that attendance is entirely voluntary and is not a prerequisite for participation in the Work Group.
